We start at the design stage with our clients and work with them to modify their component designs to accommodate the process (i.e. Press and Sintering, Metal Injection Molding, or Centrifugal Investment Casting). We can utilize various software packages including Solidworks™, Pro Engineer™, MasterCam™, and AutoCad™. After the component is in the appropriate geometry for the process, the next phase is the tooling design. This is the most important step in producing time sensitive manufactured components. Getting the design correct the first time is a culture we strive for at APP.
We develop processes that meet the needs of our clients. We do have “canned” technology that we often use, however, our clients use our services to produce non commodity products that have unique capabilities. Some examples are micro-components, controlled porosity, sinter brazing, and green machining of difficult to machine materials. Since we are familiar with raw material selection, we are able to produce feature resolution that other standard forming technologies cannot, an example being enhanced sharpness of teeth or intentional stress concentrators for controlled fracture.
